Location overview

Mount Sugarloaf is the starting point for the Cultural Education journey. This foundational session establishes shared understanding, expectations and responsibilities that guide all learning that follows.

Session focus & learning outcomes

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Understand the purpose and structure of the Cultural Education journey
  • Discover cultural perspectives that focus on responsibility and building relationships
  • Begin reflecting on their own connection to Country and place

What we explore on Country

  • Participant introductions and shared intentions
  • Cultural responsibilities and obligations to Country
  • Worldviews based on sharing, giving and building relationships
  • Observing Country beyond the visible landscape

Session inclusions

  • Guided in Country session with cultural educators
  • Catering featuring Indigenous-inspired foods as part of the Cultural Education experience. Sharing food provides an opportunity to pause, reflect, and continue conversations together. Please advise of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.
  • Introduction to cultural protocols and responsibilities
  • Reflection prompts to support ongoing learning

Participants receive:

  • a Journey Marker unique to this place
  • a Certificate of Completion acknowledging learning at this location

This session is designed for individuals, organisations, schools and community groups beginning their cultural learning journey.

Before you book 

Accessibility & physical considerations
This session involves walking and standing on uneven ground and sloped terrain. If you have any accessibility needs or support requirements, please let us know at the time of booking so we can do our best to accommodate you.

Weather
Sessions run in most weather conditions and can be exposed at higher elevation. Please come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear. If conditions are unsafe, we will contact you to reschedule.

Participants are expected to follow facilitator guidance, including cultural protocols and site-specific safety requirements.
