Session focus & learning outcomes

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Learn about Pambalong clan history and significant sites
  • Understand impacts of colonisation and land acquisition
  • Gain a high-level understanding of Land Rights and Native Title
  • Reflect on loss, displacement and responsibility

  • Traditional bush tucker and medicine
  • Hexham Swamp and story
  • Overview of coal mining and early settler land grants

Session inclusions

  • Cultural, historical and ecological knowledge sharing
  • Catering featuring Indigenous-inspired foods as part of the Cultural Education experience. Sharing food provides an opportunity to pause, reflect, and continue conversations together. Please advise of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.

Sessions run in most weather conditions. Wetland environments may be affected by recent rainfall. Please bring appropriate clothing and footwear. If conditions are unsafe, we will contact you to reschedule.

Amenities Notice

Please note that Kau-ma Park does not have toilet facilities onsite. The closest public amenities are located within the surrounding Fletcher area and nearby shopping precincts. We encourage participants to plan accordingly prior to arrival to ensure a comfortable experience in Country.
